Many people think of Jamaica as potentially dangerous or unsafe. The US state department has Level 2 – increased caution – when traveling. There are certain areas that are considered unsafe which is similar to certain areas of most major metropolitan cities in the United States. It is recommended to have a driver for transport from the airport to the hotel and when going out to dinner or the beaches.

We’ve often traveled to Negril and stayed either on the cliffs, on 7 mile beach, or a combination of the two. We’ve never encountered any problems, but we do follow safety precautions.
