How do I know? I’ve been traveling both with my husband, family and girlfriend getaways for 30 years. Seven years ago I decided to make it my full time occupation (dropping my life of financial planning). As such, here are my top 7. Living in the midwest, most of these options are more easily accessible. For example, Hawaii is absent because of the length of time to travel – of course, it may be perfect if you live on the west Coast. Each is great, but vary depending on number of friends, length of stay and budget:

7. Aruba. Calm waters, beautiful beaches and relatively affordable. Not as inexpensive as Mexico, but not nearly as costly as Turks. Aruba is also relatively safe and out of the hurricane zone during late summer and fall.

6. Cabo San Lucas. Affordable opulent all-inclusive luxury. It may take a little longer to arrive, but it is worth the additional time if you have 4+ days to stay. The options include shopping, parting, or being pampered by great staff at the resort.

5. Turks & Caicos – this would be higher on the list except for cost. I generally only recommend for small groups or those with big budgets. There are only a few all-inclusive options.

4. Nashville – Made the list for sheer fun and cost. While I often travel and stay, most clients drive and stay in downtown hotels or VRBO locations. If you have a limited budget, not much time and want to take a bunch of girls for the weekend, Nash-Vegas is a great option. There is a reason it is the #1 bachelorette destination.

3. South Beach/Miami. Miami is know for night life and is a lot of fun. You can eat your way through the city or grab a smoothie and lay by the pool. Not really an “all-inclusive” destination, but great for a long weekend.

2. Cancun/Playa del Carmen. This is number one because of accessibility and cost. It is the most cost efficient of all options which leave the US. Also, during the fall and winter, there are often direct flights from many mid-west cities. Many hotels are very high end and offer all-inclusive options.

1. Wherever you go with your girlfriends can be amazing. Remember, you are bringing the party! Make a list, pick a date and make reservations. Once you start, it becomes a great way to solidify lifetime friendships. Plan your next trip to look forward to!
